About the creator

I’m Mark — a global payroll practitioner and product leader with almost 20 years of hands-on experience working with multinational organisations, in-country providers, and payroll technology.

I built the Payroll Manager Simulator partly for fun… and partly because after two decades in payroll, I’ve seen how differently people respond under pressure. Everyone has a “style” — and this game is a simple way to reveal it without the usual spreadsheets or post-mortems.

Over the next few months, I’ll share anonymised insights from the game on LinkedIn — including which archetypes appear most often, how people balance timeliness, accuracy, compliance, relationships, and leadership, and what surprised me as a lifelong payroll nerd.
